Overview
What is root canal treatment?
A root canal removes infected or dying pulp, disinfects the canals, and seals them so the tooth can stay. Travelling for RCT makes sense when several teeth need work, when retreatment has failed at home, or when the same trip includes crowns or implants. Simple single-tooth RCT is often done locally — we will say so.
Treatments
How the visit is usually sequenced
- 01
Assessment and imaging
OPG or CBCT if the canals are complex or a previous RCT has failed.
- 02
Canal treatment
Often one or two visits under a specialist. Pain control is part of the plan, not an extra.
- 03
Crown
Most back teeth need a crown after RCT. We quote it rather than surprise you on day four.
- 04
Other teeth in the same trip
Full-mouth files often combine RCT, extractions, and implant staging.
Care desk
How MedMax runs a root canal case
You do not need a finished hospital shortlist to start. Share what you have — letters, scans, or a short note — and a care manager maps the next clinical step for root canal treatment before any report leaves MedMax.
- 01
Same-day acknowledgement, specialist view targeted within two business days
- 02
Hospital shortlist by volume and accreditation for this pathway — not a brochure directory
- 03
Written quote with theatre, implants or drugs, ICU nights, and attendant stay listed
- 04
Visa letter, pickup, and Recovery nights only after you approve a match
Why this pathway
Why treat the tooth?
01
Infection will not clear with antibiotics alone.
02
Keeping a restorable tooth can be simpler than an implant — when the root is sound.
03
Retreatment of a failed RCT belongs with an endodontist, not a general list.
Timing
When to start a file
- 01
Night pain, swelling, or a sinus (pimple) on the gum
- 02
A dentist at home has said the tooth needs RCT plus a crown
- 03
A previous root canal has failed and you need retreatment or surgery
After the theatre
Aftercare
- Avoid heavy chewing on that side until the crown is on.
- Mild soreness for a few days is common; fever or spreading swelling needs a same-day call.
- If several teeth were treated, a Recovery night before a long flight can be kinder.
Stay on
Need nights after discharge?
Guest house, service apartment, or a hotel near campus — arranged as Recovery, not a tourist add-on.
Is it painful?
The procedure is done under local anaesthesia, with other options if anxiety or infection demands it. Post-op soreness is expected; severe pain is not — call the desk.
What does root canal treatment cost in India?
The figure on this page is an indicative starting band, not a brochure package. After a specialist reads your reports we write a quote with theatre, implant or consumables, ICU and ward nights, and attendant stay listed separately. Estimates are marked as estimates.
How soon can we travel?
Most planned cases list a theatre window in weeks, not months — once reports are complete and you have approved a hospital. Visa timing depends on your passport and mission; we issue the invitation after you accept a quote.
Will the hospital see my reports before I say yes?
No. Files stay with MedMax until you approve a match. You can stop after a second opinion.
Can a family member stay with me?
Yes. Attendant beds and nearby stay are listed on the quote. After discharge we can arrange a Recovery stay if you need more days before the flight home.
Is this page medical advice?
This page is guidance for families planning care in India. Diagnosis and treatment decisions remain with your clinicians.
